This brand identity redesign represents Kapi‘olani Community College’s famed supportiveness, the beautiful hilltop campus nestled beside iconic/symbolic Lē‘ahi, and values inspired by Queen Kapi‘olani. Sae Design Group worked closely with Kapi‘olani Community College to excavate its unique qualities and strengthen their message visually: Kapi‘olani CC supports students like no other in pursuit of their hopes and dreams.

The design process started with intensive research: workshops, surveys, audits, data, and competitor analysis. We gathered feedback from Kapiolani faculty, staff, and students. 3 key differentiators emerged: 1) the exceptional support from faculty & staff, 2) the values and leadership of Queen Kapi‘olani, and 3) the unique location.

Le‘ahi represents not only the landmark location, but the student’s journey, and the proverbial “climb.” This symbolism ties to the school motto, “Kūlia I Ka Nuu,” or “strive to reach the highest”.
We intentionally extended the color palette with bright colors to reach younger audiences and help Kapi‘olani CC stand out in a sea of blue.

From the moment prospective students first encounter Kapiolani CC, to graduation and beyond, every touchpoint now speaks with one cohesive voice.
